Nepal Engineering Council (NEC) Registration Process & Documents Required For Registration

Nepal Engineering Council (NEC) was established to make engineering profession more effective. Registration of engineering  degree is must  to work as an engineer in Nepal at NEC, as authorized licence distribution for all engineering degrees are done by Nepal Engineering Council (NEC). After completing study of engineering, an engineer need to get registered at Nepal Engineering Council (NEC). An engineer need to submit registration form along with required documents for registration after completing bachelor degree in engineering.


To get registered student must have completed his/her engineering bachelor degree in authorized engineering college/university. You can view the list of authorized or recognized universities downloading PDF from here.

Registration Process at Nepal Engineering Council:



Get your documents ready and get notarized.

List of documents required for registration:
  • SLC Marksheet.
  • SLC Character Certificate.
  • Intermediate level or 10+2 transcript.
  • Intermediate level character certificate.
  • B.E Degree/Provisional Degree Certificate.
  • B.E Trascript.
  • B.E Character certificate.
  • Attested copy of Citizenship.
  • Xerox copy of licence (ID Card) or permanent certificate (प्रमाण पत्र) of two registered engineers registered at Nepal Engineering Council.
Note: If you have obtained your degree from foreign country you will also require degree equivalence certificate from Trivbuvan University (T.U.). For detailed information read our article: Procedure To Obtain Degree Equivalence From Tribhuvan University (T.U.).

Important: After collecting these documents get all these documents notarized.

Registration charge/fees for Bachelor in Engineering Certificate:
  • Rs. 3400/- (For Nepalese University or College)
  • Rs. 4400/- (For Foreign University or College)

Payment Method: The amount must be deposited in following account:
Bank : Rastra Banijya Bank
Branch: Naxal
Account Number: 1093
Account Type: Current

Now you have to visit Nepal Engineering Council (NEC) at Naxal, Kathmandu to get registration form. Fill the registration form and submit it along with notarized copy of documents and payment slip at Rastra Banijya Bank with above details. After submitting form you may have to wait upto 6 months as approval of certificates are done by board meeting of Nepal Engineering Council in every 6 months.

Note: Nepal Engineering council is considered as equivalent as Nepal Medical Council which issues licence or certificate to MBBS graduate after conducting exam but there is no provision of any examination for issuing licence certificate for engineering.

  3. And will they notarize the photo copies..because i dont have original BE marksheets..only original transcript.I completed my BE from Bangalore.

    1. You will need all the documents mentioned above. NEC will not notarize your documents, some lawyer will do it. You need to find it in you area or nearby. Original documents and xerox both are required to get your documents notarized. Photocopies will be notarized to submit in NEC.

  4. Do we compulsary need to visit to the NEC office to get registration form or we can use the photocopy form from other people ?And either of the sign of the registered engieer or license ID card or permanent certificate will work or both registration certificate and signatre are needed?

  13. sir, I have completed M.Tech in Civil Engineering from Assam, India. Its necessary for equivalent to T.U. and registered in Nepal engineering council? As I have already done registration in NEC after B.Tech completion.

  16. I have all the necessary documents but not collected my bachelor's degree yet can I registered in NEC..??
    I have been listening for 6 months that NEC is planning to take exam for license.
